Note that this adapter plugs into the back of the computer, then you plug the cable in. Don't use a cable solution but go with a simple connector. I had purchased a Dell PC with only a DVI adapter. Did some reading to find out that it was DVI-I (supports both A/D). Purchased this connector and installed it on the Dell side. I had an existing analog monitor and use the old video cable on the other end. I spend 2 hours reading other people's comments and purchased this adapter. I used it to connect a Radeon Sapphire video card to a VGA monitor via the Radeon DVI jack in a dual monitor setup. You'll need a thin blade screwdriver to tighten the little bolts that hold the adapter in place as they are too small and too close to the sides of the adapter to do it efficiently with your fingers. That's a small matter, however. Highly recommended.
